The headline: COVID-19 (coronavirus) has been spreading rapidly. The static image (above) illustrates the weekly COVID-19 cases as of 07-12-2020 (weekly cases per million people in each county). The movie (below) illustrates the change in weekly COVID-19 cases between 03/01/2020 and 07/12/2020.

Key highlights: The early COVID spread was dominated by the US Northeast with outbreaks in states such as Georgia and Louisiana. The latest animation shows the rapid expansion across the US South since June.
